SALLY S. NEELY, Esq.

Sally S. Neely joined Sidley & Austin in 1980, when Sidley merged with Shutan & Trost, a boutique Chapter 11 and bankruptcy firm in Los Angeles. Ms. Neely joined Shutan & Trost in 1977 from Harvard Law School, where she was an Assistant Professor. Following law school, Ms. Neely was law clerk to the Honorable Ozell M. Trask, United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.

Ms. Neely practices in the area of corporate workouts and Chapter 11 reorganizations. She participated in the representation of Chrysler Corporation, working directly with Chrysler's representative in negotiations with financial institutions, and she has recently worked with the Federal Communications Commission in connection with issues arising out of the auction of "C" Block spectrum for Broadband Personal Communications Services. Ms. Neely also represented the Creditors' Committee in the chapter 11 case for the Riviera Hotel & Casino, the $8 million judgment creditor in the Kim Bassinger bankruptcy case, and the debtor in the prepackaged chapter 11 case for Vista Properties, a multi-state real estate developer. She has also advised a Korean chaebol in connection with its financial difficulties.

Ms. Neely has also written and taught extensively for the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, the American Law Institute-American Bar Association (ALI-ABA), and the New York University School of Law Workshop on Bankruptcy and Business Reorganization, among others. She is co-chair of the ALI-ABA Advanced Chapter 11 program. Ms. Neely is a member of the National Bankruptcy Conference, past chair of its Committee on Partnerships and vice-chair of its Drafting Committee. She participated extensively in the National Bankruptcy Review Commission's work on partnership-related bankruptcies. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and a member of its Board of Regents.
