DAVID A. LANDER, Esq. David A. Lander is co-chair of the Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Department at Thompson Coburn LLP in St. Louis.
He has written numerous articles about the problems faced by credit counseling industry and the history of the industry which have appeared in the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review, the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Journal, the Norton Bankruptcy Adviser and the Journal of the Consumer Finance Institute. He has lectured about the credit counseling industry on programs held by the Federal Judicial Center and the Consumer Finance Institute and is scheduled to talk on the topic at the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges to be held in October, 2003. Mr. Lander served as a principal adviser for the CFA-NCLC Report on the Industry and has served as a resource for many articles in newspapers and magazines throughout the United States including Consumer Reports, USA Today and Business Week.
He is a member of the American College of Bankruptcy, the American College of Commercial Finance Attorneys, the Board of the American Bankruptcy Law Journal, the Bankruptcy Judges Education Committee of the Federal Judicial Center and was a member of the American Law Institute-NCCUSL Study Committee on Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code.
He lectures and has written extensively in the fields of secured transactions, business bankruptcy, agricultural finance and consumer debt counseling, and is a contributing author to several well respected publications. He previously served as Executive Diretor of Legal Services of Eastern Missouri and as Assistant Professor at St. Louis University Law School, and continues to teach courses in bankruptcy, secured transactions and consumer finance at St. Louis University Law School.
Mr. Lander is a graduate of Bowdoin College and the University of Chicago Law School.
