MICHAEL ST. PATRICK BAXTER

MICHAEL ST. PATRICK BAXTER is a partner of Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, D.C. He specializes in bankruptcy law and corporate reorganization. He has represented creditors, debtors, and official committees in bankruptcy cases across the United States, and has been involved in many of the major bankruptcy cases in the country, including Owens Corning, Congoleum, US Airways, WorldCom, Enron, Armstrong World Industries, LTV Steel, Safety Kleen, and Integrated Health. He has counseled the boards of directors and senior management of companies in corporate restructurings, workouts, and bankruptcy reorganizations.

A graduate of Harvard Law School and the University of Western Ontario, Mr. Baxter is a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia, and is a Barrister-at-Law and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ontario, Canada. He is a former law clerk to the Chief Justice of Ontario.

Mr. Baxter is a member of the American Law Institute, a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, and a founding member of the International Insolvency Institute. He serves as an adjunct Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School. Mr. Baxter is the Vice Chair of the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bar Association and a member of the ABA’s Select Advisory Committee on Business Reorganization (SABRE).
