PAUL H. ASOFSKY, Esq.

Paul H. Asofsky is a partner in the Houston office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP lwhere he has headed the Tax Department since 1990.

Mr. Asofsky's practice includes the full range of tax issues, federal and state, including mergers and acquisitions, structuring investments through joint ventures, limited partnerships and limited liability companies, financing, issuance and restructuring of debt, bankruptcy representation of debtors and creditors, and representation of clients before the Internal Revenue Service and the Tax Court. He has participated in the representation of all of the major Houston office clients.

Mr. Asofsky currently serves as a chairman of the American Bar Association Tax Section's Special task Force on the Tax Recommendations of the National Bankruptcy Review Commission. He is the chairman of the Committee on Tax Matters of the national Bankruptcy Conference, where he has been a conferee since 1984. He has been a member of the Tax Forum and the tax Club in New York City, and of the Houston Tax Roundtable, of which he is a founding member and served as its first president.
